What is a Gadget?

A gadget is an electronic piece of equipment designed by the manufacturer to be portable with its own internal power source which can be used in or away from the home.

What are Portable Gaming Machines?

Portable gaming machines are GameBoy, Nintendo, DS Lite and PSP etc.  They are portable electronic equipment which are manufactured with their own internal power source.

Are items such as X box, Wii, Playstations etc classed as gadgets?

Unfortunately as these items are not designed by the manufacturer to be portable with their own internal power source they would not be classed as gadgets

What gadgets does i:protect Gadget Insure?

i:protect Gadget provides insurance for Blackberry's, Bluetooth Headsets, Camcorders, Cameras, Handheld TV's, Laptops, Mobile Phones, MP3/Ipod's, Palmtop's, PDA's, Personal CD/Mini Disc Player's, Portable DAB Radio's, Portable DVD players, Portable Media Centres (MP4), Portable Radio/Cassette Player's and Satellite Navigation Equipment just in case they are stolen, you accidentally damage them or they breakdown.

Why should I insure my Gadgets?

We often take the gadgets that we use on a daily basis for granted and it's only when something happens to them that we realise just how valuable they are to us.  i:protect Gadget insurance can be used to ensure that if the worst should happen your gadgets are covered against being stolen, accidental damage and breakdown.

Aren't my gadgets covered under my Home Insurance Policy?

If your Home Insurance policy includes ‘Personal Belongings insurance away from the home' or ‘All Risks Cover' you should check whether it covers them.  Normally items under ‘Personal Belongings' or ‘All Risks Cover' will only be covered for theft or accidental damage but not for breakdown and an excess on a Home Insurance policy is often higher than the excess on your i:protect Gadget insurance.

Aren't my gadgets covered by my Travel Insurance Policy?

If you selected cover for  personal effects and valuables you will be covered under your Travel Insurance on holiday but it  will not provide you with cover for everyday usage in the UK in the same way that an i:protect Gadget insurance can.

What does my i:protect Gadget Policy cover?

Accidental Damage - if your gadget is damaged as a result of an accident during the policy period we will repair it.  If it is not possible or economically viable to repair your gadget then we will cover the cost of replacing the gadget

Theft - if your gadget is stolen during the policy period we will reimburse the cost of replacing it.  Where only part or parts of your gadget have been stolen, we will only pay for the replacement of that part or parts.

Electrical and Mechanical Breakdown - at the expiry of any manufacturer's guarantee we will cover any repair costs if your gadget breaks down, up to the original price you paid for it.  If your gadget proves impossible or uneconomical to repair, we will replace it.

If the gadget cannot be replaced with an identical item, we will reimburse the cost of replacing it with one of comparable specification at our discretion up to but not exceeding the price paid for the gadget or the policy limit, whichever is the lower amount.  If no alternative is available, we will reimburse you the cost of replacing the gadget or the policy limit, whichever is the lower amount.

As well as being covered anywhere in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man you are covered should you travel anywhere in the world up to a maximum of 90 days in total.
